AMERICAN METROPOLE ORCHESTRA

The American Metropole Orchestra (AMO) was founded in 2005 by its current music director Keller Coker. This group is dedicated to the preservation and presentation of American Vernacular Music (from Ragtime, Blues, and Swing, to Pop, Rock, Soul, and beyond).

The AMO is modeled after The Metropole Orkest of the Netherlands, “the world’s largest professional pop and jazz orchestra”. Like its counterpart, the AMO performs in a wide variety of musical styles, and often features internationally renowned guest artists performing new arrangements of their works. World renowned saxophonist Joe Lovano, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame producer and songwriter Allen Toussaint, legendary jazz songwriter Dave Frishberg, country music star Lynn Anderson, jazz diva Lizz Wright, and the powerful former lead singer of the Platters Sonny Turner, have all graced the stage along side the AMO.

The orchestra is led by its music director Keller Coker, with the support of its Assistant Director Adam Bates, and its Vocal Director Sherry Alves.
